Marriage, a Miracle of One Flesh in Two Parts

Sermon Delivered on the Occasion of The Marriage Blessing Ceremony Between

Bro. Eric Abaidoo and Sis. Josephine Ofori

By Elder Enoch Ofori

Date: Saturday, 19th August, 2017

Text: Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

The Power of Two

The Biblical dictum – “two are better than one” – does not only express a general truth validated in creation itself but is perhaps best exemplified in marriage. It is common knowledge that most of God’s created beings are in pairs. The pairing connotes companionship, cooperation, team work, intimacy, synergy and the ability to multiply, expand and influence the future.

Salvation of Few

(Sabbath Sermon, 29th July, 2017)

Text: Luke 13:22-30

A Narrow Opening into a Glorious Kingdom

The kingdom project Christ inaugurated on earth has an ultimate goal – to make kingdom members actual kings and priests in the actual world-ruling Kingdom of God:

“And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey Him” (Dan 7:27).

In Christ all shall be made Alive

A Glorious Eternity Beyond

Birth and death are phenomena we are all too familiar with. They are the two big transition points which every man and woman will inevitably go through; they are the entry and exit points of life, as it were.

But there’s yet a third glorious transition you can guarantee for yourself today if only you will repent of your sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. That’s what our departed brother laid hold of in his journey of life on earth. There’s a glorious eternity beyond. The Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, his protégé:

In Christ all shall be made Alive

Your Deliverance Is In View

Golden Text: “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1 Cor. 10:13).

A Bitter Pill to Get Well

Ask any school-going child. School is sweet, but it’s not sweet throughout. The games are fun; friends are also fun to be with. But then, there are lessons and questions and exams to write to test knowledge and award marks and grade academic progress. Without examination and pass marks, you will remain stuck academically and only end up as an also-ran.

Invite Jesus into the Boat

 (Sabbath Sermon, 20th May, 2017)

 Text: Mark 6:45-51

The Great Risk of Ignoring Jesus

Does it sometimes feel like you could take charge of your own life and overcome the difficulties life throws in your way all by yourself? Are you so skilled and experienced in an area of life or situation that you do not need Christ to intervene?

Well, I am here to tell you that it’s never out of place to invite Christ to intervene in a crisis or difficulty, no matter your level of experience or skill. You might be skilled and experienced but not so powerful to overcome all natural and supernatural forces that may confront you someday. And one or two will inevitably confront you over the course of your life. Bottom line is, you need Jesus every step of the way!
