\u00a0A Dead Priesthood versus a Living Priesthood<\/strong><\/p>\n

The question, \u201cAre Christians required to pay tithes?\u201d, is a question that demands a biblically tenable honest answer!\u00a0\u00a0 Why commit one-tenth of your income to the ministry? Is it necessary? Is it mandatory and valid under the New Covenant?<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Tithing is an issue of controversy in Christianity. Some argue vehemently that with the cessation of the Levitical priesthood the law of tithing established under it has also ceased with it. \u00a0After all, the relevant text states explicitly: \u201call the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’s: it is holy unto the LORD\u201d (Lev. 27:30).\u00a0 But in giving the tithes to God Levi was to receive them, \u201cbehold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation\u201d (Num. 18:21)…..<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
