The World in Search of a Superman

Our generation faces an uncertain future. The unending stream of bad news says it all! Will this future bring on the doom of humanity or usher in a new beginning for mankind?

A frightening new age looms before us. While we live in relatively peaceful times, a new menace is on the loose—global terrorism. Some see a coming clash of civilizations, particularly between the West and Islam, which could precipitate the end of human civilization itself!

Is man on a collision course with catastrophe? Will the current geopolitical tensions escalate to such a point that a third world war will be inevitable? Should such a dire scenario come true, will the nations be restrained from resorting to nuclear weapons which could plunge the world into an unimaginable inferno?

Many pundits predict doom and gloom, painting a world lurching perilously (and helplessly?) towards a nuclear disaster!

While this prognosis unquestionably mirrors current events, Bible prophecy forecasts quite a different scenario. Rather than allowing things to spin out of control, a bold attempt will be made to bring order out of the chaos.  But it will not be of God; it will be human initiated with the devil working behind the scenes.

Several ‘international statesman’ have periodically voiced the need for an extraordinarily gifted leader on the global stage—a man of incredible political savvy and a unifier—to be a stabilizing force in the world.

Nobody has probably articulated the desire for this superman of a world leader more forcefully and eloquently than Mr. Henri Spaak, one of the founding fathers of the European Common Market (now the E.U.) and a former Secretary-General of NATO. In one of his speeches, he declared: “We don’t want another committee; we already have enough of them. What we want is a man of such stature that he be capable to gain the allegiance of peace and politics to pull us out of the economic chaos into which we are sinking. Send us this man, and, be he god or demon, we will welcome him.” (Source: www.light1998.com/Beast).

Shades of Rev. 13:3-4: “…. and all the world wondered after the beast. …. saying who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?”

But it’s not as if Mr Spaak has been out on the limb—a lone campaigner for ‘the beast’. Since his declaration, other high-profile international figures have chimed in with calls of their own for a new world order. International giants on record to have made such calls include former US President George Bush Snr and the late Pope John Paul II.

Mr Bush issued his call for a new world order with the war drums of operation ‘Desert Storm’ beating in the background. Soon US forces would charge across the Arabian desert in a campaign aimed at driving Iraqi occupying troops out of Kuwait. In the ensuing wreakage and carnage of operation Desert Storm, the President’s words wouldn’t ring hollow.

The Pope’s call came in less tumultuous times. As he presided over a morning mass on New Year’s day Jan. 1, 2004, Pope John Paul II renewed his plea for a new world order founded on respect for the dignity of man and equality among nations. He called for solidarity among rich and poor nations in which resources and the fruits of scientific and technical progress will be shared by all. He said such a new world order, based on the goals of the United Nations, would bring about world peace.

Earlier, the pontiff had urged a reform of the UN and International law to tackle the growing threat of terrorism. (Source: www.cnn.com  “Pope calls for a new world order”. Posted Jan. 1, 2004).

So among at least the elites of the world, a man only has to fit their job description of a supreme world leader, and he will come waltzing his way into world political power, a knight in shining armour! Believe it or not, the antichrist is about to assume power. Events are racing to such a climax.

Europe is an important player in this whole enterprise to put the world under the authority of the antichrist. From the rubble of the old Roman Empire is rising a superstate, the nucleus of the global empire to come.

The old name and the new name may not sound alike, but not after you read Project 666, a propaganda literature published by one Michel Smiely of Sweden.  He prefers to call the European Union “The New Roman Empire of the West”. The mission of ‘Project 666? It’s “the political force which is going to solve all the political-social problems of mankind”.

The globalists are on the rise, and they don’t have a more opportune time to implement their plans than now. The current threats to world peace serve the grand design of the globalists to install their new world order, pleading the greater good of all mankind. What a plausible pretext for global takeover! While the threat of terror must be dealt with, some believe that it can only be effectively combated when the world comes together under one government. In the years to come, and it has already begun, terror will be used as a powerful lever to push for world unity.

World opinion is being manipulated; minds are being conditioned–the stage is being set for the coming of the antichrist and his new world order.

Historically, people have sought to unite nations and cultures through military conquests. Only in the 20th century has some semblance of world unity been forged without war, but through ‘jaw-jaw’, i.e. dialogue and diplomacy. The League of Nations, formed in 1920 after World War I, and the United Nations, formed after World War II, provide a model to build on and advance to the next stage: Mankind must unite under a world government.

Although yet to materialize in full, the one-world government structure is already at an advanced stage; its building blocks can be seen in the regional quasi-political, economic blocks around the world.

Internationalism is the order of the day, a development which has spawned numerous international organizations, from the World Trade Organization (WTO) to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

On the religious front, the Ecumenical movement is spearheading cooperation among the religions of the world in the hope of creating a one-world religion.

Mankind takes charge of his own destiny, humanism in glorious triumph! Michel Smiely writes in his Project 666 masterpiece: “When we read Project 666 and the struggle message it represents—it brings out the courage and original way of showing mankind that 666 is the key which will allow the formation of the most beautiful and glorious future. …. Our Project 666 contemplates the creation of a new political-material-scientific-spiritualistic force which allows one to really understand, study and use the potential which characterizes the duality of the human nature. …. ‘666’ want[sic] to end all social injustice and poverty in the world. ‘Project 666’ is created to make a paradise on Earth.”

But God calls it the kingdom of “the beast”, the antichrist, and has decreed its inevitable doom! (See Rev. 13:16-17; 19:17-21). Satan is leading humanity on another destructive course. If you ever doubted the end-time prophecies recorded in the book of Revelation, especially the 13th chapter, now is the time to reconsider and be on the lookout!

The agenda has been set, the infrastructure laid—including the introduction of microchip implants to be inserted in the forehead or the right hand for purposes of identification and commercial transactions (Rev. 13:16-17). It’s only the appearance of the antichrist, “the man of sin”, that’s being awaited.

And when he does appear, he will charm the world. Peace will be his slogan, nay his trump card. In a world dangerously divided along cultural and ideological lines, his assurances of peace will work like a balm on anxious minds. But the Bible says his song of peace will prove to be a dirge (mourning): “by peace [he] shall destroy many” (Daniel 8:25). Sounding a similar note of warning, 1 Thess. 5:3 says, “ When they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape”.

Yes, the antichrist will promise humanity a paradise on earth in which poverty and war will supposedly be eliminated, but it’ll turn out to be a nightmare—man brought into confrontation with none other than His Creator in the terrible war of Armageddon! (Rev. 16:13-14, 16).

The end-time antichrist will largely succeed for two reasons (other than that the Lord will have allowed him to assume power to fulfill His own predetermined purposes): He will derive his power from Satan, the great dragon (Rev. 13:4).

Using satanic powers (possibly in concert with cutting-edge technological inventions), the antichrist will so dazzle the world with fake miracles and wonders that “if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect” (Matt. 24:21-24; 2 Thess. 2:8-9).

Second, he will enjoy popular support. Many will swallow the lies and blandishments of the antichrist because they delight in lies themselves. So “God shall send them a strong delusion [the antichrist posing as the world’s Saviour], that they should believe a lie” (2 Thess. 2:10-12).

The antichrist will be so puffed up with pride that he will “exalt himself above … God” and even “sit in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God” (2 Thess. 2:3).

Because true believers will not worship the antichrist nor kowtow to his wishes, he will wage war against them, i.e. persecute them – Rev. 13:7; Dan. 7:21, 25. (The fallacy of the pre-tribulation rapture is easily verifiable from scripture). Despite pretensions to egalitarian values and respect for human rights, the world government of the antichrist will be a first-class dictatorship.

Thankfully, it will be short lived. The writing will appear on the wall sooner than expected: The antichrist will rule for only 42 months or three and half years (Rev. 13:5; Daniel 7:25).

As his end comes, he will team up with the dragon and the false prophet to mobilize  forces against the returning Christ, who will come like “a stone cut without hands” and crush them into nonexistence! (Rev. 16:13-14; Dan. 2:31-35).

Like all previous human experiments (beginning with the Tower of Babel episode) to build a new order or paradise without God, the 666 world empire will fail. History is replete with such examples.

But mankind will continue to plan and await the coming of the antichrist, ignoring the  only true Source of peace—Jesus Christ , the Prince of peace (Isaiah 9:6-7).

After a chaotic end to man’s rule, He will usher in God’s Kingdom of peace, prepared for the people of God from the beginning (Matt. 25:34). God Himself “will dwell with men. … and shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away” (Rev. 21:3-4).

The Satan-corrupted human system will be history! The antichrist and his hordes of armies, armed with the most sophisticated weapons conceivable, will not prevail against Christ, “for He’s Lord of lords and King of kings” (Rev. 17:14). The world’s superman is human after all. Glory to the Highest!
