How to keep the 7th Day Sabbath Holy

Know assuredly that “The 7th Day Is the Sabbath of the Lord Thy God” –Ex. 20:10. In the New Testament, Christ claims the ownership of the Sabbath: He says, “The Son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath. “ – Mk.2:28. If He still claims the ownership of the Sabbath, just as in the Old Testament, the 7 th day Sabbath is therefore “the Lord’s day” –Rev. 1:10.

Because of this, He did not speak of “another day” (Sunday) in the whole of His earthly life – Hebr.4:8. Search the scriptures and see if the Lord ever spoke of the 1 st day of the week (Sunday) as a day of divine worship.

What we know is that He taught the people in defence of the observance of the Sabbath. According to Christ, God’s commandments, including the Sabbath, are in force as long as the heaven and earth remain. :”Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled” –Math.5:18. Beloved, do you think that Jesus came to destroy the law containing the Sabbath by His sacrificial death? Let’s hear the answer to this question from the Lord’s mouth: “Think not that law come to DESTROY the law, or the prophets: lam NOT come to DESTROY, but to fulfil “(or to obey, to fill up, etc; see Isa. 42:21) – Matt.5:17. Because of His perfect obedience to the whole law, He lived a clean, holy life. He asked, “Which of you convinceth Me of sin?” – John 8:46.

Beloved, if you are really Christ’s, please rest on His day every week. Hebrews 4:4 says: God did rest the 7 th day from all His work. He commands therefore that, “in this place again”, that is,in this New Testament time, we must rest on the 7 th day from all our works as He did from His at creation (verse 5). If we shall enter into His eternal rest, we must rest on the 7 th day. “For he that is entered into His rest, also has ceased from all works, as God did from His “ – His. 4:10.

Since it’s the Lord’s day, it is a day to serve the Lord alone. It is a day of worship: “Six days shall work be done: but the 7 th day is the Sabbath of rest, a holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: It is the Sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.”

Attend services on this holy day to cast your burdens on the Lord, that He may give you His promised rest (Matt. 11:28). God has promised you a blessing, if you keep the Sabbath in truth:

“Then shall thou, delight thyself in the Lord: and l will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken this “ – Isai.58:13-14.

The 6th day, Friday, is the preparation day. This day should be solely used for preparation for the next holy day of the Lord. Food and other essential things must be prepared for both the 6 th and 7 th day (Friday & Saturday), so that there will be no work done on the 7 th day. See Ex.16:23,25. He that keeps the 7 th day Sabbath holy receives a double blessing from the Lord! God will give you on the 6 th day THE BREAD OF TWO – Ex.16:29. Please enter into the Lord’s blessed Sabbath this week that you may be permitted to enter into His eternal rest in heaven. God bless you..

Christ commanded His wearied, hungry disciples to pluck the ears of corn on the Sabbath to eat. The Pharisees who saw this interpreted it as an unlawful act. In order to prove them wrong, the Lord referred them to the day when David and his men were every hungry and ate the showbread, which was not lawful for them to do so (except for the priests), to save his life and the lives of his men. With this illustration, Christ made it clear that He and his disciples had not broken the law of God on the Sabbath day. They were earnestly hungry; they had to eat to sustain their lives. The 4 th Commandment on the Sabbath day does not say that we can leave somebody to die or suffer because of the Holy Sabbath : A man’s life is always precious and so some good work can be done to save life on the Sabbath day. This is why Christ said, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath;” and also that “It’s well to do good on the Sabbath day. – Mark. 2:27 & Matt. 12:12.

Has Sabbath-Keeping passed? “The Sabbath was made for man” (or mankind) – Mk. 2: 27. Are you a man? If yes, then keep the 7 th Day Sabbath ; for man was created to rest on the 7 th day.

Again, He says, it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail”. – Luke 16:17. “THERE REMAINETH therefore (the keeping of a Sabbath) to the people of God.” Heb. 4:9.
